Food For All Newsletter: Dining Staff Appreciation Today!

Hello Food For All,

We have two ways to engage with Food For All this week: our table in the Sadler Atrium today and our chill general body meeting tomorrow.

Dining Staff Appreciation Tabling: Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day! We will be tabling in the Sadler Atrium from 11:00am – 2:00pm encouraging students to sign a banner thanking dining hall workers. You can sign up to table here. If you’re just passing through, consider taking a moment to find us and sign!

General Body Meeting: Tomorrow, February 18th at 7:00pm, we will be meeting in Chancellors 123 to chat about fun activities you can do to learn more about or support non-profits!

Spring Break Staycation: Wesley and Food For All are teaming up to provide food, service opportunities, and fun activities to folks staying over Spring Break! If you are interested, fill out this form so that we can get a vague estimate of numbers. You can come to as much or as little as you would like. Additionally, reply to this email or send a GroupMe DM to an exec member if you want to get involved in coordinating/running the event!

Have questions or suggestions about what events we should run this semester? Feel free to reply to this email! We hope to see you at our table today or our meeting tomorrow!

Food Drive Volunteer Opportunity

Hey Food For All,

Although we are not meeting as a general body this week, we do have more information about the upcoming food drive that will be run by the Staff Assembly and will benefit FFA food pantries! There will be a food drive kickoff event on Monday, 10/28 from 1:30-2:30 in the lobby of Swem Library. We would love to have as many of our members as possible at this event to show our gratitude towards Staff Assembly for holding this drive! They are requesting that members who attend bring a can of food to donate if possible. There will also be a volunteer opportunity at the end of the food drive on Monday, 11/18 from 3:00-4:00. We are especially looking for students who have cars to help pickup donations from various locations across campus. If you don’t have a car, we also have plenty of opportunities for you to help out with organizing and stocking donations! We hope to have anyone volunteering for the 18th attend the kickoff event as well, but if you would like to attend only one or the other that is not a problem. Please email Annamarie at agwarnke@wm.edu if you would like to volunteer! We hope to see you all there!

Food For All Interest Meeting! (Fall 2024)

Welcome to Food for All!

We hope you all have had a great summer and first week of classes so far! Whether you are a returning member or are interested in joining, we are looking forward to a great semester with FFA. Most importantly, our interest meeting will be next Thursday, 9/5 6:00-7:00 pm in Chancellors 134. We hope to see you there! We will go over the basics of Food for All, volunteer opportunities, and current club projects. If you are still deciding whether or not you would like to be involved, this is a great opportunity to learn more.

Some more info about FFA:  We address food insecurity on campus by operating two food pantries for students, faculty and staff who are food insecure. Our club meetings will be held the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:00-7:00 in Chancellors 134. Club meetings include projects that contribute towards the pantries as well as learning more about food insecurity in our area. We also have volunteer opportunities (including restocking, organizing, and operating the pantry) on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons for those that may be interested. Currently, FFA has a member-to-exec pathway program. If you are interested in a leadership opportunity or if you have a specific project that you would like the club to start, we have a lot of flexibility within our exec team for new positions. We will go over all of this at our interest meeting! Feel free to email foodforall@wm.edu or message the groupme with any questions.
